BIOGRAPHY:
Deborah Bell Jarratt, also known as Debbie Jarratt, is an American illustrator and sculptor best known for her work with The Franklin Mint during the mid-1980s. She created charming, highly detailed porcelain figurines, often hand-painted, featuring whimsical animals and children in playful, lighthearted scenes. Her work is characterized by a cute, collectible aesthetic with a gentle sense of humor, which made her designs especially popular with collectors. Notable Franklin Mint pieces include Ahoy! (duck and frog), Peekaboo! (cat and bird), Slowpoke, and Nosey (raccoon with a bee). In addition to Franklin Mint, Jarratt also worked as an illustrator and creative artist for Enesco Corporation and Hallmark Greeting Cards. She studied Illustration and Design at Hussian College, attended Germantown High School, and is from Germantown, Pennsylvania.
