This lot contains over 500 early aviation related books, pamphlets, original data books, correspondence & engineering drawings. There are many issues of "Cross & Cockade", "Over the Front" & "Journal of American Aviation Historical Society". Many early titles are in French. Many publications predate World War 1, some even predating 1910. Included in this archive are six original binders written & assembled by Charles Froesch. His entire lifetime era paralleled the growth & development of aviation & aviation history, from his earliest employment in 1912 with the Farman Aeroplane Company to World War 1 service, post-war employment to Anthony Fokker; who's famous German aircraft were partially manufactured in "NJ". He met the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker, who was also employed by Fokker. Froesch would become Chief Engineer of Rickenbacker's newly formed company. One binder contains an original & unpublished 244 page type-written manuscript written in the 1960s "BEFORE AND AFTER THE JETS CAME". The two-page preface was written by Eddie Rickenbacker. Froesch knew anyone who was anyone in the aircraft industry & another accompanying personal folder contains copies of his letters & original replies. Additional binders have engineering drawings. Another binder is a personal compilation of material about engines, written & drawn by Froesch plus articles 1917-1919. PROVENANCE: from the personal library of Norm Flayderman. (02-24521-1/JS).
