Sierra Leone. Standing on a domed integral base, this Temne figure is carved with an elongated presence. The long, grooved coiffure frames a tapered face marked by fine linear scarification across the forehead, temples, and cheeks. A rectangular panel with incised detail spans the lower abdomen, and her long torso has long hanging breasts, and gangly arms with hands connected at hips. Age cracks. Warm dark red-brown patina. Custom wood base. Size: 18"H. (46cm).
