
Two US Model 1816 Replacement Socket Bayonets with Scabbards
American Civil War
1) US Model 1816 Replacement Socket Bayonet. 18" blade, 3" friction fit, T-mortise socket, 21" overall. Bright finish, blade marked "US". Metal moderately oxidized with discoloration and surface roughness and some delamination at the joint between the neck and socket. Includes a Pattern of July 1864 (8-rivet) scabbard with moderate wear, crazing and finish loss.
2) US Model 1816 Replacement Socket Bayonet. 18" blade, 3" friction fit, T-mortise socket, 21" overall. Bright finish, blade marked "US". Metal somewhat aggressively cleaned, leaving the "US" mark weak, showing some freckled oxidation and discoloration. Includes a Pattern of July 1864 (8-rivet) scabbard with heavy wear, crazing and finish loss. Scabbard tip is detached with the leather broken.
