Myles Birket (Birkett) Foster (British 1825-1899). 19th century oil on masonite painting of a small group of figures at right enjoying an afternoon on the grounds of a sizable brick estate or institution, likely in the United Kingdom. Mother seated with her children, one of whom recently collected wild flowers, another riding in a wheeled buggy. Expansive quality of the buildings highlighted in the horizontally-aligned painting with a low skyline and rolling green hills marked by forest tree line. Signed with artist's monogrammed mark lower right. Framed 22.25 inches x 19.25 inches. Unframed 17.25 inches x 14.25 inches.


Craquelure to paint surface however paint layer stable. Some wear to the right side of the canvas, likely caused by framing. Would benefit from cleaning and likely brighten. Some gilt and gesso loss to frame.
