Factory documented Winchester 2nd Model 1876 in .50 Express (.50-95 WCF). Manufactured 1879 with 26" round barrel. Blade front sight with elevation adjustable rear sporting sight with checkered sides. 2 line Winchester barrel address with top of chamber marked ".50 CAL. EXPRESS" Blue finished with high polished receiver and thumbprint dustcover marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS .50CAL. 95 GRS." Case color hammer and lever with standard trigger. Oil finished walnut stocks with crescent buttplate with trap butt. Full length magazine. Winchester factory letter dated October, 1992 confirms configuration and caliber and also denotes "Lid" indicating shipped with dust cover. A second correspondence dated 1992 from Buffalo Bill Historical center indicating that this rifle, 7685, was, according to records, the first rifle to be marked with the caliber marking of 50 Express. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with over 97% blue finish remaining on barrel, magazine, and receiver. The hammer and lever retain most all of their vivid case color. The stocks are very fine with little evidence of use and some light handling markings. The bore is brilliant and bright with sharp rifling. The action operates properly and smoothly. A very fine example in the most desired of calibers. Not often found in the second model and not often encountered without English proofs.
