BIOGRAPHY:
Trained with Jose Caballero Villarroel and Jose Gutierrez de la Vega (son) at the Secondary Education Institute of Badajoz; Later, he studied at the Royal Academy of San Fernando (Madrid), under the tutelage of Pablo Gonzalvo and Joaquin Espalter. In 1864 he began to study at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, being a disciple of the Aragonese Pablo Gonzalvo. He completed his training with copies of the great masters in the Prado Museum and, from 1867, he obtained a pension from the Provincial Council of Badajoz to continue his studies in Madrid. Later he was a professor at the School of Drawing and Painting of Badajoz. Specialised in the painting of history and religious subjects, he also practiced portraiture, and attended the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of 1881 with nine works.
