This Winchester Model 70 Ranger is a bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .270 Winchester, built on the storied Model 70 action known for its reliability in the field. The rifle features a 22 inch blued steel barrel paired with a blued receiver and an attractive jeweled bolt body that includes a checkered bolt handle knob for improved purchase. Prominent markings include the designation ?RANGER? on the left side of the barrel, alongside the manufacturer and caliber stampings ?WINCHESTER? MODEL 70 270 WIN.? / MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CT U.S.A. and a circular WP proof mark at the breech. The left side of the receiver is roll-marked WINCHESTER / ?TRADE MARK? and the serial number G2129442 is clearly visible on the right side of the receiver. The firearm is mounted in a smooth hardwood stock with a straight comb and satin finish, featuring front and rear sling swivel studs and a hinged floorplate. The buttstock is fitted with a black rubber recoil pad bearing the Winchester logo. Sighting is handled by a ramp-mounted hooded front sight and an adjustable rear iron sight, and the receiver is factory drilled and tapped with filler screws present for the addition of optics. The rifle is in fair to good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows minor thinning at the high edges and muzzle, with scattered light handling marks and faint surface scratches. The bore was not internally inspected, though the rifling appears intact at the muzzle. The bolt action cycles smoothly and appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The smooth wood stock shows a significant gouge and scraping on the front left side of the forend, with additional scattered dings and light scratches throughout the finish consistent with field use. The black rubber recoil pad is intact with some minor surface wear and discoloration.
