Description
This Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight is a pump-action shotgun chambered for 12-gauge, 2-3/4 inch shells, featuring a 28-inch Roto Forged barrel. The steel surfaces are finished in a traditional blue, with the receiver featuring decorative roll-engraved scenes depicting a hunting dog and pheasants on the right side and ducks in flight over a marshland on the left. The shotgun is equipped with a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and a ribbed corncob-style wooden forend, and it has been fitted with a Pachmayr White Line ventilated rubber recoil pad. Aiming is assisted by an Ithaca Raybar red fiber optic front sight mounted at the muzzle. Key markings on the barrel include MODEL 37-FEATHERLIGHT C-12 GA-2 3/4 CHAMBER-PROOF TESTED and ITHACA GUN CO., INC., ITHACA, N.Y.-MADE IN U.S.A.-ROTO [anvil symbol] FORGED, with MOD. stamped near the receiver to indicate a modified choke. Both the receiver and barrel display a proof mark consisting of the letter P within an anvil border. The serial number 949273 is stamped on the right side of the receiver. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note - All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition
The blued finish on the barrel shows notable thinning and wear, especially toward the muzzle where light speckling and minor surface oxidation are present. The receiver retains much of its original bluing with some high-edge wear and light handling scratches. The walnut stock and forend are in good condition, showing typical minor scuffs, dings, and surface scratches from field use, while the checkering remains well-defined. The bore is bright with no significant pitting observed. The pump action cycles smoothly and the trigger appears functional.
