Known to hang in public spaces like arenas, city halls and government buildings, this exceptional pair of three-quarter length Royal portraits from 1953–1954 features larger-than-standard formats, including Dorothy Wilding’s iconic image of Queen Elizabeth II used for her first postage stamps. Wilding, the first female royal photographer, is joined here by the photographer Baron, a close personal friend of Prince Philip who captured the couple's wedding and early family milestones. Each photograph is personally signed and dated by the respective Royal subject and presented in a matching silver frame with purple felt matting, under glass. Together, these pieces serve as a prestigious record of the early reign, uniting the work of a pioneering female artist and a trusted inner-circle photographer. The framework is professionally done. Minor discolouration to the purple matting on both. Both signatures display very well with minor fade. Frames exhibit minor scuffs. The top edge matting of the Prince Philip image is raised. Reverse frame backing is torn at the top edge of the Queen Elizabeth framed image.
