Gothic Friar Carved Quartersawn Fumed Oak 5-Tube Grandfather Tall Case Clock by Geo. C. Flint Co., NY. Large brass dial signed with 5 point star (Waltham Clock Co. trade mark), has a 12 in. silvered chapter ring with applied brass hour numbers, silvered sub seconds dial, moon phase with silvered arch, sub dials for Chime/ Silent & Westminster/ Whittington chimes, fancy pierced brass and engraved center & corner spandrels with pierced hands, brass 8-day weight driven movement, Graham deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, quality brass pulleys, brass covered weights & pendulum bob with steel. In an excellent Gothic carved case with pierced carved gallery top, corner spires and figural Friar bust on the crest, pierced carved side pieces have figural winged griffin corbel supports with turned & carved corner spires on either side of the door, carved Gothic arches on the base with a figural head carved in the center of the front panel, in very good condition, original fumed Oak finish. Has winding key and door key - small piece of filigree missing on left side
