The "Mariale," first printed in 1497, describes all the attributes of the Blessed Virgin in 160 sections.
The title page contains various old handwritten entries, including the name of Ludovicus Ruffonis.
Good condition, occasional spots, the title page is reinforced at the edge of the verso.
Early 20th century 3/4 leather over marbled boards, spine with raised bands and title, decorated in gilt , marbled endpapers (with binder label to the front pastedown: G. Hedberg, Stockholm)

Jacobus de Voragine,[a] (c.?1230 - 1298) (Jacobus de Varazze) was an Italian chronicler and archbishop of Genoa.
He was the author, or more accurately the compiler, of the Golden Legend, a collection of the legendary lives of the greater saints of the medieval church that was one of the most popular religious works of the Middle Ages.
