Description
Antique Eastern European solid brass Lion of Judah menorah, believed to date from the late 19th to early 20th century. This striking seven-light form features intricate openwork ornament with opposing lions, scrolling foliage, and stylized floral motifs, all raised on a turned pedestal base.
Measuring an impressive 22 inches wide by 22 inches high, it has exceptional scale and sculptural presence. The warm brass surface and richly detailed casting give it the look and character collectors associate with Eastern European Judaica, with similar examples often attributed to Romania or Ukraine. Therefore it is believed to be Eastern European, likely Romanian or Ukrainian, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
A substantial and highly decorative piece, equally compelling as Judaica, ceremonial décor, or a dramatic old-world centerpiece for a mantel, console, or dining table.
