Catalog #2404. "Standing Guard". A narrative oil sketch white field illustration for "Back of Beyond" by Stewart Edward White. Appeared in "Saturday Evening Post" of February 5, 1927. Caption: "Kit took her turn with the rifle by the white rock". Depicts a barefoot woman in a thin dress holding a rifle in her lap while seated on boulders, oil on illustration board laid to upson board, initialed center right, dated 1927 on label verso, giving title. Housed in a replica gold matched corner gesso frame.
Fine condition.
