Oil on illustration board laid to Upson board, initialed center left. Depicts a young man leaning with a pack on a split rail fence, studying a distant house. Caption: "He had spied the figure of a girl not far away". Housed in a replica deep cove gold frame with tan velvet liner. Spots in white field at top, otherwise fine. Title given in artist's catalog.
