Description
Pair of French Modern Bronze Ibex Head Dining Table Bases, Attributed to Chervet, France, Circa 1970s
A striking and sculptural pair of French Modern table bases, each cast in solid bronze in the form of stylized ibex heads with dramatically coiled horns. The design is attributed to the French artist and designer Alain Chervet, who became renowned in the 1970s for his bold zoomorphic furniture and lighting, often executed in patinated or polished bronze.
The ibex, with its monumental curling horns, is a symbol of strength, vitality, and endurance, while in decorative arts it carries connotations of both exoticism and modernity. Here, Chervet (or his circle) transforms the natural form into a piece of functional sculpture"”both surreal and elegant"”by exaggerating the spiral rhythm of the horns, which echo Art Deco and Surrealist influences.
These bases offer tremendous versatility: originally intended as a dining table support, they can also be paired with glass to create a dramatic desk, console, or even large side tables. The choice of glass top allows for customization in scale and style, from minimal modern to bold statement interiors.

Each base measures 30" W × 30" D × 28.75" H.
