Newburyport, Massachusetts, Circa 1800
Inlaid mahogany case. Bonnet with three brass ball and steeple finials on plinths, elaborately pierced fretwork, an arched dial door bordered with patterned line inlay, and brass-capped full columns. Trunk with a molded pendulum door and inlaid and brass-capped quarter columns. Pendulum door and base section with string and quarter-fan inlay. Bracket feet. White-painted face with a gunship medallion in lunette, gilt spandrels, a Roman numeral hour ring, an Arabic numeral seconds ring and subsidiary seconds and calendar dials. Signed "D Wood Newbury-port".
