EXTREMELY RARE AND IMPORTANT QUEEN ANNE CHERRY DRESSING TABLE WITH SCALLOPED TOP
Wethersfield Area, Connecticut, Circa 1750
Generously overhanging top with out-rounded corners, gracefully scalloped on three sides and the rear side straight. Full-width drawer over three side-by-side drawers, the central with fan carving. Fluidly scrolled apron. Fine cabriole legs end in pad feet. Very good surface and color, and a very desirable small size. Bass and eastern white pine secondary woods.
Height 32". Maximum width 37.25". Case width 31". Depth 21".

Notes:
Period scallop-topped dressing tables are exceedingly rare. This table exhibits several traits associated with the Wethersfield school: the fluid skirt, the style of fan carving, the canted knee brackets and the truncated pads on the feet. Similar examples are in the collection of the Connecticut Historical Society and the Manchester Historical Society.

Overall fine condition. Repair to top lip of lower right drawer. One corner return is a replacement. Two shims added to the sides in the center of the top. Minor horizontal age splits to sides. Top with some staining.
