1891 Berlin - 1977 Berlin - "Head" - (1920) woodcut/paper. 29 x 20 cm, 32 x 24 cm (passe-partout cutout). 53 x 41 cm (dimensions with frame). Monogrammed in the block lower right: MK (ligated). Passe-partout. Framed under glass. Max Kaus attended the School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Berlin-Charlottenburg in 1908. Stimulated and inspired as a student of Heckel, he created lithographs and woodcuts. 1928 G??nther-Wagner Prize Hanover. He has held a full professorship since 1949.
