Minimal paint losses at the edges. 19th-century Munich painting greatly impressed Kaplan in his art, especially K. Stuhlmüller. Study trips took him to Greece, Italy, France, Africa, and Mexico. In 1981, Kaplan received the 1st prize in the competition "Bavarian Painters Paint Bavaria" in Munich.
