EDWARD P. BUYCK 1880-1960 VTG PAINTING ROCKPORT MASS HARBOR SCENE Item Description: This painting was done by New York artist Edward P. Buyck (1888-1960). It shows the Motif Pier # 1 in Rockport Massachusetts. Three Gill Net Fishing Boats are docked at the pier. It looks to date to the 1940s. The painting measures 15" x 18 1/4" and with frame it measures 18 1/4" x 22". It is signed in the lower right. There is also some information on the back identifying this as the Motif No. 1 Pier of Rockport Mass. There is some flaking of paint mostly in the area under the boats and a small amount under the wharf (see close up photos). Otherwise, this painting is in very good vintage condition, with no crackling etc. Edward P. Buyck is known for his portraits of Franklin D. Roosevelt ,Landscapes, Harbors ect.. He has work in the White House collection and in the Smithsonian.
