The item is constructed from cast iron with prominent vertical mold seams. A coin slot is located on the upper portion of the eagle's back. The piece retains traces of a polychrome painted finish, including white on the head and tail, red on the beak and talons, and a dark grey or black body color. The assembly is secured with Phillips-head screws visible in the chest and under the wings.
