IRENA D. JONYNAS (GRIEZE) - ABSTRACT FEMALE PASTEL CHALK DRAWING - LITHUANIAN
Item Description:
This drawing was done by Lithuanian artist Irena D. Jonynas 1931-2017. Irena's maiden name was Irena D. Grieze before her marriage to the well known Lithuanian artist Vytautas K. Jonynas (1907-1997). We are listing several of Irena's pieces which we purchased at an estate here in Arizona. The owner of the estate gave us a poster for one of Irena's exhibitions at the Lithuanian SSR Museum of Fine Arts (see the photo above).
This drawing measures 21 7/8" by 29 7/8" inside the mat and 24 1/4" by 36 3/8" with frame. It is pastel chalk on paper. It has been framed in a thin lightweight metal frame and covered with some kind of plastic which has scratches in several areas. Also, it looks like some light debris is inside the frame and particles can be seen on the mat. But, the drawing is in very good condition. (The translation of the poster is: "This exhibition was opened in the Lithuanian SSR Museum of Fine Arts at the Grand 31 everyday except Monday at 12 noon till 6 pm." A full size color copy of the poster will come with the painting when sold.)
