Qing Dynasty Very Fine Chinese Gilt Bronze Buddha. Seated in dhyanasana dress. Hands in Dharmachakra mudra. The serene face expression beneath a large protruding urna set amidst the whorls of hair. Seated in lotus position on a double lotus throne base. 7 Character Marked on back: QianLong Reign Mark.. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Chen YueQuan, born 1906. An Indonesian Chinese Immigrant, Prominent businessman and private Asian antiques collector in East Java. Also well known as “Eyeglasses Old Man”. During 1950 he was one of the wealthiest in the family from ChensClan in Java. He supported the 5th renovation of Sam Poo Kong Temple Complex, the oldest Buddhist and Taoist Temple in Semarang, Indonesia.During the Indonesian Revolution Riot in 1998 many Chinese fled the country, including some of Mr. Chen’s Family.
