The long, single-edged blade of lenticular cross-section and lightly curved, forged of the rare Kara Khorassan Persian wootzdamascus steel with original finish, and inscribed in a polylobate cartouche, the name and title of Shah Abbas of Iran, ABBAS SHAH BANDE-YE VILAYET (r. 1588-1629.) In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with Persian wootz suspension bands.17th century or later. Wear to leather. Overall length 101.3 cm.
