Lot 0056
NO RESERVE. This very early post-war D-18 shows a few signs of Martin’s gradual return to certain normal practices. While the tuners on this D-18 still have plastic buttons, the tuners are mounted with round bushings as seen on this guitar’s headstock. Because Martin’s supply of Adirondack Spruce had run out around this time, most Martin guitars feature Sitka Spruce tops starting in 1946. Like D-18 models produced after 1944, this D-18 features non-scalloped braces.
