Description
35-Star American Flag. c. 1863. Cotton with printed bands of red and blue. Condition issues, loss to edges, but stable. Image is 34” w x 23” h. Frame is 37” w x 25” h. Est. $1,000-2,000. Ship: $65Provenance: Flag found in one of the oldest homes in Grand Rapids by consignor’s father-in-law, John Pr. Czarnopy. This lot is accompanied by a partial newspaper article about this flag and Mr. Czarnopy which documents how he found the object. The flag was placed on display at an antique show after it was found in an effort to “swell the troop fund” of Boy Scout troop 265.
