A Painting of Sybilla Persica a 17th/18th C oil on canvas showing the young girl in a turban and robe resting her hands on a book inscribed Salve Casta Syon Permut Iaque Passa Puelle" and with the name "Sybilla" written on the apron of the table. Gilt framed, 14 1/4"h, 11 1/4"w. Note: Sybilla Persica, named Sambethe from the family of Noah, was one of the twelve Sibyls of Christian typology, the prophetic priestess presiding over the Apollonian Oracle and fortold of the exploits of Alexander the Great.
