A rare infant's brown linen frock coat, circa 1780, lined and trimmed in pink linen with mushroom coloured turned down collar and cuffs, with toggle and two loops to fasten at the neck, frogging, buttons and wired rosettes adorn the front closure, the cuffs with metal hooks and eyes, the curved back seams with decorative bands of chain stitch, pockets lined in pink linen, chest approx. 20in, 51cm, length 51cm, 20in

Condition

The pink lining is stained to the neck and shoulder areas but this does not show through on the other side; three small moth holes to front right skirt, small moth hole above right cuff, left sleeve has two brown stained areas both with holes where the fabric has rotted; small hole to rear hip above right pocket opening, lacking one frogging loop and rosette from neck and lacking one button from neck, lacking two buttons from lower end.
