Navajo Sand Painting by Eugene Baatsoslanii Joe, measures 19''H x 15.5''W, framed and beautifully matted, embellished with 3 turquoise cabochons with the largest measuring 7/8'' x .5'', features pottery olla and basket with petroglyph drawings in the background, Artist Bio: Eugene Baatsoslanii Joe was born in Shiprock, New Mexico and raised near Sheep Springs, NM. Descended from a long line of Navajo medicine men, including the famous Hosteen Klah, Eugene began receiving formal instruction in Navajo sandpainting and religion at age 10 from his father, James C. Joe. Though he has never received any art training in school, he has developed his own unique style and become widely recognized as an outstanding young artist, having taken many awards for his work since he first entered competition in 1968.
