DESCRIPTION: This is a handmade doll baby rocking cradle from Hudson Valley, New York circa 1750 to 1800. The doll baby rocking cradle is handmade of white pine wood and has dovetail construction. There is a hooded top and the sides are shapely styled rather then straight up and down and boxy. The rocking runners were attached with hand wrought nails and have a turn down style on the ends that act as stoppers. The doll baby rocking cradle is an exact miniature of the wooden baby cradles found in so many of the early colonists homes. The doll baby rocking cradle would have been the joy of a small child and was treasured and kept with care. The name of the child was signed on the bottom of the cradle twice and you can still make out the first name “Mary” with beautiful signature! (see photos).
