1288. Star Trek: The Original Series first pilot script of “The Cage” signed by Leonard Nimoy and director Robert Butler. (Paramount TV, 1966-1969) This is a vintage, production-made shooting script for the very first pilot for Star Trek: The Original Series, used to forge one of the greatest Sci-Fi series in television history. Measuring 8.5 x 11 in., with 73-multi-color pages, including revisions. This studio-bound and bradded “Revised” script is dated November 20th, 1964 with tan-colored covers. This is the pilot script that launched the Star Trek franchise, entitled “The Menagerie,” written by Trek creator himself, Gene Roddenberry. Marked by secretary in pen at the upper right of cover, “file”, the cover is printed with the “Star Trek” title and a graphic of a planet against a field of stars. Handwritten office sticker reads, “New Title: The Menagerie” and is affixed over the printed title, “The Cage”. The internal title page is boldly signed, “Robert Butler, Director” (with a smiley face cartoon) and “Leonard Nimoy, Spock”. This historic script features an insert page which reads, “Name Change, CHANGE: Captain James Winter, TO: Captain Christopher Pike” dated “11/25/64”. Cast and character page shows printed character names with actor names handwritten beside them in an unknown hand. The script exhibits some cover staining and a coffee ring on the internal title page. The cover also has a crease running horizontally across the entire page. An incredible, milestone script marking the spark of genesis of an iconic show that influenced the hearts and minds of TV viewers worldwide. In vintage good condition.
