1713. Dale Bozzio screen and stage-worn signature custom plastic bustier from Missing Persons. (ca. 1980s) This original Bozzio design is constructed of a clear plastic ball, cut in half. The cups are joined together in the middle by fish tank hose and laced through the top of the cups then wrapped around the back and sides. The interior lining was fashioned from metallic fabric remnants and could be switched out to match an outfit. Former Playboy Bunny, Bozzio first walked onstage wearing this garment in the early 80s. This bustier was the first of only three ever created by Bozzio and established her signature look, which she wore throughout her career worn in most of her live performances, numerous promotional images and music videos. This specific top was worn in the video for the band’s hit single, “Destination Unknown”. Bozzio also appears wearing this piece in interviews from 1982 talking about this bustier and her overall fashion aesthetic. The two later bustiers were discarded after repeated wear, making this original design the only authentic Dale Bozzio signature bustier in existence. Today, Lady Gaga’s eclectic wardrobe and costume design is a clear homage to Bozzio’s trademark eccentric designs. Accompanied with an LOA from Bozzio’s personal assistant Debra Messina.
