Description
A jacket of Persian brocaded satin, 19th century. woven with flowering plant repeats and edged with Safavid floral braid which is piped with block printed cotton, the front closure applied with silver lace and double row of silver thread toggles, curves skirt panels, the cuffs edged in black braid, lined in indigo cotton
Condition
bodice has been taken in on each side by machine stitched darts which could easily be removed, part of the silver lace braid on the left closure panel needs re-stitching. Side seam at right waist needs re-stitching. Colours are good and fabric is very lustrous and fresh. Black bands need re-stitching on front panels in a couple of places, blue and yellow braid needs re-stitching in a couple of places at right front waist, small area of braid needs re-stitching
