Lot 0239
(4x1.5") The original brass (?) Spacecraft identification plate, removed from the capsule and mounted on a wood/aluminum presentation display in the shape of the St. Louis Arch. The ID plate reads: "Gemini Spacecraft No. 10 / Part No. 52-00001-10 / Cmd. Pilot Cdr. John W. Young / Pilot Major Michael Collins / Mission Date 18 July-21 July 1966 / Mfg. By McDonnell Aircraft Corp. / for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration". There is an additional descriptive plaque that reads: "Identification plate removed from Gemini 10 after first use of docked satellite as propulsion source". A striking model and a unique, record-setting ID plate have remained in the consignor's personal collection since this unit was presented him almost 40 years ago. A "must-have" for any space buff. Ex: the astronaut Michael Collins collection. FLOWN? Yes
