Rare ‘Automatic’ teapot designed by Richard Sapper for Alessi, the epitome of Modern Design

This Alessi stainless steel teapot was created by the German designer Richard Sapper. The handle of the pot is covered with cane and therefor creates a special contrast between traditional materials and modern austere forms. The name ‘Bandung’ refers to the Indonesian city of the same name, which is known for its Art Deco architecture. The pot can be positioned horizontally standing on the handle and the wide foot plate, an integrated filter serves as a tea strainer. When raising the pot, the water flows back into the boiler.

The Alessi teapot is in good condition with usual signs of wear. The base bears the slightly illegible mark ‘Officina Alessi’ and the model number ‘950393’. Its height measures 21 cm and the width 22 cm.
