Flown Beta cloth patch of the Apollo 17 mission insignia, 7 x 7, carried into lunar orbit aboard the Command Module America

item-307665=1
536A: Apollo 12 FLOWN Beta cloth US Flag

Lot 0536A Details

Description
from Richard Gordon Jr.'s Space Suit This incredible and unique beta cloth flag was FLOWN aboard Apollo 12 to the Moon while on Richard Gordon's Apollo XII Pressure Garment Assembly (spacesuit). Consistent with NASA tradition, upon their return to Earth, the astronauts' name, mission patch and US flag patches were removed from their suits and given to them as mementos of their historic journey. This flag shows some abrasion from use and some soiling which could be lunar material which it picked up from the air in the command module when Conrad and Bean rejoined Gordon in the CM after returning from the lunar surface. Minor faults resulting from this patch being removed from Gordon's pressure suit add provenance to this lot. A Richard Gordon Jr. certificate of authenticity included. Ex: The astronaut Richard Gordon Collection. FLOWN? Yes
