A stainless steel Charging Bull sculpture, referred to commonly as the "Wall Street" bull, by artist Arturo di Modica (b. 1941). Di Modica made the Wall Street bull sculpture as a response to the stock market crash in 1986. He worked on the bronze bull from 1987 - 1989, and then installed the piece in front of the New York Stock Exchange in the early hours of December 15, 1989 (it has since been moved to Bowling Green in downtown Manhattan). Di Modica says the bull, an international symbol of strength and power, was an optimistic gesture for the upturn of the market, and a symbol of his belief in the American Dream--that we can overcome our obstacles with hard work and determination. This fantastic early prototype in stainless steel is a limited edition of 10 by the artist. United States, 1987; signed on bottom of the bull, "A. Di Modica 87 9/10." Dimensions: 25" L x 15" W (foot to tail), body is 8" W; 14-3/4" H.

In very good condition; there is occasional wear (chipping and minor pitting) to the underside of the bull.
