WWII Archive of Walter E. Reitz, Jr, 101st airborne division, 2nd lieutenant Enlisted Honorable discharge papers as a Master Sargent, 717th Airborne Ordnance Maintenance Co., 17th Airborne Div. Mr. Reitz enlisted April 23rd, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was in the, “Battle of Germany from 26 Dec ’44 to 12 Feb ’45,†and of the 101st Airborne Division from which he was honorable discharged 15, February, 1946. The archive includes Mr. Reitz’s Honorable discharge papers, Purple Heart in enameled gilded bronze with reverse pin for wear, complete with riband bar and lapel pin; unnumbered and unnamed as issued. Sterling silver Prop and Wings bracelet engraved with, “Walter E. Reitz Jr., 0-2011086†(7.7 g); Photograph of Mr. Reitz labeled, “Walter – on Mt outside Hitler’s Eagle Nest†and another photo of a battered army jeep, the wreck from which Mr. Reitz earned his purple heart. Photo of the swaggering Mr. Reitz. 10k RGP watch presented to Mr. Reitz upon retiring from The Hecht Company after 25 years. Two (2) photos of Mr. Reitz, one as a child and other as a young man.
