MANHATTAN PROJECT WAR SERVICE CERTIFICATE

Lot 0303
MANHATTAN PROJECT WAR SERVICE CERTIFICATE One of the most unusual atomic bomb project items we've encountered a certificate issued in appreciation of services rendered in the creation of the bomb. The 10"" x 8"" printed certificate is issued by the War Department ""Manhattan District"" and thanks William Elkind of Westinghouse for his: ""...work essential to the production of the Atomic Bomb thereby contributing to the successful conclusion of World War II...awarded in appreciation of effective service..."". The certificate bears the facsimile signature of Henry L. Stimson and is dated ""6 August 1945"" - the day that the Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima Japan. Toned at extreme margins else very good.
