These are four Safari Sling Charis by the Scottish manufacturer Arkana. They were crafted in the seventies in Falkirk, Scotland of teakwood and pleather in black. The design originates from Maurice Burke. In a square wooden frame are round shores lacquered in black. The seat and the back are stuffed with foam. The chairs hold together large, brass-colored decorative slotted screws.
On the seat’s underside is the embossed inscription ‘arkana, Falkirk, Scotland, Made in Great Britain, patent applied for registered design, 924.933 & 924.934’. The four chairs are in good condition. The wood is somewhat bleached. The dimensions are each 71 x 62 x 62 cm (height x width x depth) and the seat is 40 cm in height. (tm)
