Clarence Millet, A.N.A. (1879-1959, New Orleans), "Studio Courtyard," oil on canvas, signed l.r., exhibition label en verso, presented in a period frame, H.- 29 7/8 in., W.- 24 in. Provenance: Purchased by the owner's parents from the artist. According to family history, this painting was exhibited at the Louisiana State Museum in the 1950s.
Condition consistent with age. Not examined out of the frame. The painted surface is in good condition with no in-painting or craquelure visible under UV light. The canvas has not been re-stretched or relined. There is a small mark in the lower right corner that appears to be residue on top of the paint surface (see photo). The frame is as found with some heavy loss to the paint surface. The frame retains the artist plaque from when the painting was exhibited at the Louisiana State Museum. A fantastic example.
