Description
ENGLISH STEVENSON & WILLIAMS POTTERY PEARLWARE "BEEHIVE & VASES" PATTERN COVERED DISH, of canted-corner and lobe-molded form, the domed cover with a large molded flower-bud as the knop, transfer-printed in dark blue with classical urns alternating with scrolling foliage, all on a seeded ground, the well of the dish printed with the beehive on a ledge over a semi-wreath. Printed marks to underside. Circa 1825. 4 7/8" H, 9 1/2" W, 9 1/2" L.
Literature: Coysh/Henrywood - The Dictionary of Blue & White Printed Pottery, Vol. 1 (as unattributed), p. 37. Vol. 2, (correctly attributed) p. 26.


Condition
Good to moderate condition, with a hairline crack to the edge of the dish, minor cut marks and visible seam to transfers.
