Nuages, 1976; Gouache and ink on paper (framed); Signed, dated and titled; 29" x 43" (sheet); Provenance: Galerie Maeght, Paris; Joel Bogart, New York (acquired 1977); Private Collection, New Jersey (acquired approximately 1978); By descent to present owner; Note: This work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application number A12580.
Condition
The work of art is in good condition. Framed under Plexiglas and floating in a silk mat. Signed and dated lower right recto. Titled in pencil on verso. Verso of upper edge of sheet is hinged to backboard in three places along top edge. Backboard is composed from two sheets of mat board. Minor discoloration visible at the edges of the sheet where no pigment has been applied. Some rubbing to the orange pigment in the exposed paper areas which appears to be original to the work. Very slight buckling to sheet due to the thickness of the paper and the application of the pigment. Very minor crimps and handling marks, especially in lower left corner.
