Fraktur Sampler Signed Barbara Ebersol, 1864.

Very Fine and Rare Lancaster County, PA Fraktur Sampler Signed Barbara Ebersol. Considered the best known example of her work having the only known human figure of her work, she was 18 years of age when she did this sampler for her friend Anna Stolzfusz, 1864. This large colorful sampler has geometric, hex sign, birds with potted tulips and floral devices and soldier on horseback motifs. Pictured on the front cover and page 47 of "Two Amish Folk Artists The Story of Henry Lapp and Barbara Ebersol" by Louise Stoltzfus. Pictured page 117 of "Decorative Arts of the Amish of Lancaster County" by Daniel and Kathryn McCauley. Accompanied with the two pre-mentioned books. 11" x 14-1/2". Condition: Good with bright vivid colors, tears, creases, edge loss and stains. Some tape repairs on back.
