A MAGNIFICENT CHINESE 18TH/19TH CENTURY QIANLONG CLOISONNE
GILT COVERED CENSER ON CARVED ZITAN STAND.
Of bulbous to rectangular body, Each corners of the vase is cast with a set of four archaistic patterns flanges. It is supported on four cabriolet legs emerging from gilt lion masks, flanked by a pair of curved up swept dragons handles climbed on the sides to the lips. Exterior decorated in bright enamels with a design of scrolling clouds suspending to the center formed auspicious mask motif, while archaistic dragons exhaling flames towards a central pearl decorated on shoulder. The domed cover is decorated with open carved zitan wood of lotus foliage and ruyi-shaped supported a hexagonal cloisonne crown, surmounted with a gilt finial cast as dragon with protruding horns amidst clouds.

The cloisonne decorating has been done with impressive fluency and detail. This set from Qianlong's imperial workmanship is an absolute highlight.
Distinctive period mark incised on Base, six seal script -ZhuanShu- character, QianLong Period of Great Qing.
