Item Details

Description

A rare tennis-player's chatelaine, circa 1870, regd no 13213, of cast steel with four chains attached to a small coin purse, notepad and a propelling pencil case, 42cm, 16 1/2in long

Condition

Slight corrosion to the steel generally - on the clip this results in a mottled discolouration and in the mesh of the racquets there is a brown rust residue. The clips have similar brown corrosion and also here and there on the chain links. The mock croc leather purse is very rubbed. The nickel plated notepad has pencilled ivorine leaves. The propelling pencil lacks its inside lead.
