superb antonio pineda bracelet seven linked oval amethyst cabochons that are raised above a 970 sterling silver backing creating exquisite depth and dimension. the polished amethyst stones have natural inclusions and fissures and reflect natural light with the elevation of the cabochons allowing light to pass through from top to bottom. a slide oval clasp with safety chain closes the piece. the heavy bracelet is fully hallmarked "970", "antonio" in his signature crown used after 1953," the eagle mark and several other numbers and initials. this piece is pictured on page 144 (plate 184) of "silver seduction: the art of modernist antonio pineda". mr. pineda was one of the taxco modernist movement's finest artisans. he is known and sought after for his highly original and skillful rendering of modernist forms. the sculptural design and effective combination of materials, the bracelet is a superb example of the fine workmanship for which antonio pineda is celebrated and will make a superb addition to your collection! measurements: approximately 6 3/4" on the inside. the largest amethyst measures 20mm with the smallest 14. weight: 71 grams circa: book piece dating to 1953 condition: very, very good to excellent with no chips or nicks to the amethyst and the sterling bearing a nice patina. there are natural inclusions in the amethyst which are in the manufacture. a splendid collectible piece of mexican jewelry! Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and the most valued member of the quartz family. It must be purple to be amethyst, but it can display a range of shades including deep purple, light lilac, lavender and mauve. Top quality amethyst is a deep medium purple with rose-colored flashes.
