Description
Part of a Babylonian cuneiform brick with Inscription of Nebuchadnezzar II, c. 604 - 562 BC, the text neatly incised in three horizontal rows is part of brick inscription no. 39 which in its entirety reads - Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, who provides for the Esagil Temple and the Ezida Temple, first-born son of Nabu-apla-ussur, king of Babylon. Brick inscription Nbk no. 39, known from many exemplars, see CBF Walker, Cuneiform Brick Inscriptions in the British Museum, … (1981), p. 80-1. They are found at a number of cities in Babylonia. H: 3 in (7.5cm), W: 6 in (15.4cm). Ex Maine private collection
