Inscribed on the mount: "To Mabel Craft Deering: From her friend of the long ago: Kate Douglas Wiggin. Christmas, 1902". Kate Douglas Wiggin, best known for her children's novel Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, was the founder of the first free kindergarten in San Francisco in 1878. Mabel Craft Deering was also a San Francisco author and very active in the California suffrage movement.

Lots sold without reserve are sold “As Is” and are not returnable under any circumstances.
